What counts as a technical deviation
A deviation exists when an offered item, document or delivery condition differs from the customer requirement. Material, pressure class, standard, dimensions, certification and manufacturer can all create deviations even when the supplier describes an item as equivalent.
Compare requirement against offer
Record the requested value, offered value, evidence for each and the consequence of the difference. This side by side structure is more useful than a general note because it shows exactly what a reviewer must decide.
Use a clear decision state
Classify each line as compliant, needs clarification, acceptable equivalent, rejected or pending approval. Do not let an unresolved deviation inherit a ready to quote status from the rest of the case.
Keep the customer facing decision human
AI can locate differences and propose a classification, but an experienced person should decide whether the alternative can be offered. The accepted decision and its evidence should travel with the quotation record.
